Ashley says:
In my opinion, memorizing verses and hymns while in Holy Word improved my study skills tremendously and prepared me for a highly demanding high school curriculum and involvement with state and national academic competitions, not to mention the basic bible knowledge that never fades away. High school can be a very scary time, but by having such a solid foundation from elementary and middle school and a consistant church life, nothing ever shook my faith.

Also, I think you should like to know that when I was a freshman, my Pre-AP Geometry teacher told my parents that she thought my training in math from the school that I came from was very effective in training me for high school math.

I think that my study habits from Holy Word shielded me from early ideas of just "doing the bare minimum." I firmly believe that the high standards Holy Word held for us through personal attention to every student were the same ones that helped me to do my very best in high school, not JUST what would get me a passing grade.
Amy is a freshman at Hyde Park Baptist School. She received four Outstanding Achievement certificates as well as Maxima Cum Laude and Medal for her score on the National Latin Exam. Jamie is a student at Texas Tech University. She is active in numerous projects in the Lubbock community, including Habitat for Humanity. She received the Agnes Hicks Academic Scholarship and Superior Scholastic Achievement Scholarship. She's been on the President's List for academic achievement and is involved with Campus Ministry as well as serving as President of Shepherd of the Plains Campus Ministry.
